The Sunken Cemetery used to be a burial site which was completely covered in lava when the Old Volcano Daan erupted in 1871. It is marked in 1982 with a huge white cross on the surface. Every year there is a procession hold to remember this tragic event, but also to thank for its calm weather and fertile lands. Beneath the cross you will find several graves covered in healthy soft and hard corals. It is a flat reef slope with common marine species that include batfish, octopus and rudder fish.
