Moalboal is the name of a small village, peninsula and province on the west coast of Cebu, attracting travelers since the early seventies. Most tourists stay near the beautiful beach of Panagsama, which used to be an area with a very nice stretch of sand. Unfortunately, a typhoon removed much of it in 1984 and also damaged some parts of the offshore reefs. The reefs are recovering but the annual windblown sand doesn't recover the once so pretty beach. Nowadays, many tourists consider White Beach in Barangay Savedra a much better place for sunbathing, snorkeling and swimming. Panagsama remains the spot to be for some night activity as it has many restaurants, bars and clubs. Other activities and things to do around Moalboal include canyoning, spectacular waterfalls, trekking and rafting. The colorful Sunday market at Moalboal is also a very interesting morning activity.

Scuba divers can easily book tours around Panagsama Beach where many dive shops offer diving tours to Pescador Island, Sunken Island and other interesting dive sites around the island. Pescador Island is known for its steep walls, strong currents and excellent chances of diving with huge fish species such as barracudas, whales and hammerhead sharks. There are also many interesting muck diving dive sites known to spot harlequin ghost pipefish, coral crabs, nudibranchs in all colors and excellent soft and hard corals. It is one of the better dive destinations around the Philippines where scuba diving can be extremely rewarding but it is not the only reason to visit this place.
