Cabilao Island is a small island west of Bohol of slightly more than 4000 inhabitants. On the island, you can walk to Lake Lanao spotting many bird species on the way or stroll around one of the five barangays (small villages) to experience early Philippine life. From Mocpoc you can take a local banka across to Talisay and continue to your resort. You can also phone your resort at Cabilao and arrange a boat that picks you up from Mocpoc, Bohol as well as from Argao, Cebu. Other tourists come from Mactan Island, Cebu but remember that Cabilao is remote, with no cars except a few tricycles and motorcycle and often failing electricity. There are a few fantastic resorts that offer dining, diving and nice rooms.

One of the highlights of diving in Cabilao are the many hammerhead sharks that congregate here from December to June. The currents are strong and nutrient around the island offering many drift dives, wall dives and chances to dive with huge pelagic predators such as jacks, barracuda and many types of sharks. Since its relative remoteness, corals are still in pristine conditions and attract nudibranch, pipefish, seahorses and many other macro photographic sights. Enjoy this unexplored island.
