Best dive-season / How to get there: International flights land in Cebu City Airport. From there you can drive south to Cebu's east cost where you can board a local banka boat to cross over to Cabilao Island. Local diveshops will organize your transfer.

Balay is visays and means house, so the balay reef refers to the local housereef.

It starts really shallow with a big sandy shelf where you can find saddle back anemone fishes and critters like pegasus and stargazers. The closer you come to the edge of the wall you will find coral blocks and different substracte like seagras areas and coral rubble. The different bottom compositions offer a lot of animals a perfect living place and therefore you can find many rare marine species including seahorses, whiskered pipe fish, crabs and shrimps, leaf fish and many more. If you are lucky you can even encounter a blue ring octopus, even if they are really hard to fine, this area has a good account on bluering octopus sightings. Night diving is also spectacular here.
